T V Sundaram Iyergan in 1911. Its two manufacturing plants are at Mysore and Hosur, near Bangalore. Mr. Raghunandan Saran founded Ashok Motors in Madras (which is now Chennai), for the assembly of Austin cars. British Leyland picked up an equity stake, in 1955, and the company's name was changed to Ashok Leyland.
