Esteban Faggett: I am getting married May 8th of 2010. Between the two of us we have 5 kids. I have been checking into prices. I figured I can! have a really nice wedding for less than $2,500. I went to Milanoo.com and got my wedding dress. It looks like a 500 dollar dress and I payed $100 for it. I also got my bridesmaid dresses there for less than $60 a piece. If you have a family member or friend tyhat can do hair, makeup, cakes, flowers, anything they will be willing to help. saves a bunch. You dont have to look for stuff just online but shop around shops. Look for sales. If you find something you like look around at other places. Randa Hessell: Absolutely it's possible to have a very classy wedding with a 5k budget. You would have to do some DIY (do it yourself) projects to make that happen. But I've seen elegant weddings on a $3k budget. It's just a matter of what you want. Good luck.

Marcel Then: Absolutely. Make some of the wedding decorations yourself and find an inexpensive bakery. Or if you want to, you can have a good cook in your family make the wedding cake. Buy your own wedding supplies from somewhere like Michael's or a craft store and make a lot of it yourself. I bought a bag of silver and white confetti and the craft store and sprinkled it on the tables for the reception. It looked nice. For the wedding, I bought potted plants that were really pretty and placed them in strategic locations and I bought one of those wooden trellis-like arches at Home Depot that flowers are supposed to grow on. I painted it white and silver - it looked nice. I wove a! few nice silk plants in it, too. You can buy silver-plated wedding favors and a cake knife at craft stores (like Micheal's) that are just for weddings. There are also online-line catalogs for this too. Try ebay also. Rosalba Lingner: There are lots of great (and free!) websites available with ideas on how to save money on your wedding. I have received plenty of ideas from the internet for my $8000 budget wedding. I mostly use theknot.com but I have also just googled things like "low budget wedding" and "cutting costs on your wedding" and helpful ideas have popped up. Here is some of what we are doing to cut costs:1. cutting out transportation costs by using our own vehicles rather than renting a limo2. having a cash bar rather than open bar to eliminate the cost of the bar tab. If you are worried about that looking "tacky" then cut out the alcohol altogether, or just serve wine.3. using ! candles for center pieces rather than flowers since they can be quite e! xpensive4. finding a dress on sale5. getting the groom's tux rental for free if the groomsmen all rent theirs at the same store6. get a small two tier decorated cake, and have sheet cake in the back cut up for guests. This is much cheaper than buying a large tiered cake to serve all the guests with, and they won't even notice the difference.7. we are serving a buffet meal at a local restaurant that was a reasonable price ($18 per person) but if you are on a very tight budget you could have your wedding at a time when it doesn't overlap with a meal. You could simply serve deserts or hor d'oeuvres at your reception.8. skip the wedding planner and plan it yourself9. do as much as possible yourself and with your friends and family. We are making our own center pieces, decorations, invitations and save the dates.10. we are having a relative take our photographs since they are amateur photographers and have professional equipment. Alma Twomey: You sure can have a classy wedding on a budget of $5,000.Mine was quite classy at $4,000. I did do a bit of DIY to achieve it, but it was beautiful and so much fun. Our wedding was a Victorian garden wedding in a formal rose garden, followed by the reception at a small luxury hotel on the side of a sleeping volcano. It was a fun day for all.I didnt have to spend anything on decorations as both venues were beautiful as they were... spring time in gardens is beautiful. Keep a look out for clearance and mid year sales for items that you are definate you will need for your wedding. Also visit factory outlet shops and see what can be found there too. Got my dress at David's Bridal. It was on sale...paid a little over 200 bucks for it.2.! Making my own centerpieces...glass vases with stones and floating leaf! candles(found the candles online...6 pks for $4.00)3. Having our reception in the adjoining parish hall to our church. Doesn't cost any extra to do this4. Early afternoon wedding...cocktail reception afterwards...bartender is serving sodas, beer, wine and champagne for the toast. Cider will also be available. 5. Bought invitation kits from Michaels..is having a printer do them for 25 bucks6. Family friend is catering...saving us alot of money7. Another family friend we got to do photography for only like 10008. Not using a limo, will use our own vehiclesJust try to keep it small. We're inviting 55 people.
