Kirk Coolbeth: It's a disorder that causes excessive bleeding. It's caused by either a deficiency or impairment of,strangely enough, von Willebrand's factor, which is critical to clotting.
Maria Devenney: Von Willebrand's disease is a genetic deficiency of the clotting agent known as the von Willebrand factor. Without this clotting agent, people with the disease have difficulty forming blood clots, especially in the mouth and nose, leading to prolonged and heavy bleeding from the nose and or gums. People with the disease often bruise easily as well.
