Launa Weingarten: No, however, a boater's safety course is highly suggested and recommended by ALL states. No one under the age of 12 is permitted to operate a vessel.

Bud Espenshade: Most states require a safe boating course and certificate to drive a motorized boat if you were born after 1972. Check with your Oregon department of Motor Vehicles. Courses are offered through United States Power Squadron.
