Freddy Shutler: Not everywhere is where you live. The closest bus stop to my house is 7 miles away and the closest one to my job is 2 miles away. I can take my car and be at work in 10-15 minutes versus walking 4 hours to a bus stop and riding on it for 30-45 minutes then walking another 1 to work.
Rachell Meese: 1- 93 Toyota Supra or 2008 Toyta Rav4 2- I ride the bus about 80% of the time. Depends on how much stuff I need to carry and how much flexibility I need. 3- These are all advantages. I like my car for the flexibility, the cargo space, the speed... I also live in a rural area so I only have 4 buses per day. If I don't want to wait an extra hour, I need to get my errands done super fast. If I'm in a car, it's no big deal. 4-A/C. public transit is not very comfortable at all. The biggest advantage to me isn't A or C though, it's the fact that I don't have to think. I can relax, read a book, work on homework, etc... it takes more time but my stress level is so! far reduced that it's worth it. 5- Traffic sucks, maintenance/gas/insurance add up a lot faster than a bus pass, traffic sucks 6- inflexibility, feeling like cattle, crazy old people with poor hygiene. I like having both options and I utilize both options. I love my car because it's a driver's car- designed to be fun to drive and I love it. The Rav is a great vehicle because it has cargo space, towing, passenger space, decent mileage, almost no maintenance costs... I love the bus because I don't have to think and I can just relax while somebody else deals with traffic, pays for fuel, pays for insurance... the list goes on. Both serve their roles and I love both....Show more
Phillip Modafferi: You must be very naive to think that public transportation works for most everyone. The closes highway to my house is a mile. The closest town five miles and that town doesn't have a bus stop. It is fine if you live in a larger city that has bus service, subways, etc. If you! want to take your chances with getting knifed, etc. go for it! . Those of us who live in the less urban areas will stick with our private vehicles and take our chances.
